Girdwood Backcountry Skiing

Sunday March 28. After receiving almost a foot of new snow in the past couple of days, I decided to head down to Girdwood and check out the backcountry skiing just east of Alyeska. I was by myself and exploring new terrain, so I didn’t venture out too far. But it was still amazing!

Ski Train To Grandview

At 6 am on Saturday morning, Linda and I, and 700 other skiers, boarded the Alaska Railroad for the annual Ski Train. The train ride was a three hour trip to a place called Grandview. Grandview isn’t town - there is nothing there. It is just a remote spot in the middle of the Alaskan mountains that happens to have unreal skiing. Once in Grandview, everyone gets off the train, and skis all day.
