Center Creek

Thursday April 15. Tim Kelley and Tim Miller invited me to join them for a crust ski up Center Creek, near Johnson Pass. It was a chance I couldn’t pass up, so I skipped work and grabbed the boards. We skied for about 4 hours in some of the best crust skiing terrain you will find anywhere.

Kincaid - April 14

I can’t remember ever skiing on groomed trails like this in mid-April. Still a ton of snow on the trails. Dirty and rutted in places, but lots of snow!

Glen Alps Crust Ski

On Sunday April 11, Scott, Taz (the dog) and I did a fantastic crust ski from Glen Alps trailhead. We skied around Avalanche Mountain, going up and over three passes along the way: Ship Pass, Indian Creek Pass, and Powerline Pass. I forgot the camera, so we don’t have any photos of the spectacular scenery. All we have is a map of our route. Sorry!

Hatcher Pass Crust Skiing

On Saturday April 10, Scott, Martin and I headed to Hatcher Pass in search of some crust skiing. The crust was a bit spotty, but the snowmobile trail was in great shape for skiing.

Oosik Weekend

April 3 & 4, we went to Sheep Mountain Lodge for the Oosik Classic Ski Race. The race itself was hectic - we drove up the morning of because I was sick the day before. So we didn’t get many pictures of the race, but we took plenty the next day to make up for it.

April 1st Skiing In Anchorage

These picts were taken on April 1, but they are no joke. I was skiing on extra blue hard wax with fresh, new show and beautiful tracks. I was skiing at sunset (7:30 pm) so the lighting isn’t great, but the skiing sure was!
