April 8: The recent weather hasn’t been conducive to crust skiing (cloudy with occasional snow showers). But yesterday afternoon was sunny and it got cold last night, so I decided to give it a go this morning.

On Sunday Sept 25, Linda and I mountain biked the Johnson Pass trail.

On August 14, Tim Kelley, Trond Jensen, Toby Schwoerer, and I went on a 10 hour peak-bagging quest in the Kenai Mountains. Tim also has his photos from this trip on the web, click here to see his shots.

July 30th & 31st was forecasted as cloudy with some rain. So it sounded like a good weekend to do a sport where you are going to get wet anyway - packrafting! I packrafted on the 20 Mile River and 6 Mile Creek. So I guess you could say I did a packraft marathon (20 + 6, except that I only floated about 18 miles total).

From June 2 to July 25, we had a constant stream of visitors. In fact, there were only three days in that entire 2 month period that we did not have family or friends visiting Alaska. It was a lot of fun. Here are some of my favorite scenery and wildlife photos I took while playing ‘tour guide.’

After weeks of waiting, the Anchorage area crust ski season officially began today.

On August 6, Linda and I drove south to the end of the road - Homer, Alaska.

After a few very busy weekends, we took a trip to Hope, Alaska to relax and do a couple of short hikes.
