Here is the cabin we stayed in at the Hatcher Pass Lodge. Right next to the start of the ski trails.

The view from our room, looking up the valley towards the mines (which are just out of view on the left). After arriving on Friday afternoon, we had an hour or two of daylight, so we put on our backcountry skis and played around in this valley.

Notice the road headed up and over Hatcher Pass road behind the cabins. Now a snowmobile trail. On Saturday morning we hiking up that road with our snowboards to make some turns. Yesterday we had noticed a lot of "whump" sounds in the snow as

We went back to the lodge, grabbed our backcountry skis, and headed up the lower ridges of Microdot (pictured). Again, we were concerned about snow conditions, so we stuck to the areas that weren't connected to major avalanche danger.
