April 20. After four days of warm, wet weather we finally got a freeze last night, so Scott and I jumped at the chance to get back out on the crust. This time we heaed to the Placer River Valley. Althouth the terrain here is very flat, there are two impressive glaciers to see.

Placer River Valley Crust Ski
Tuesday, April 20th, 2004Crust Ski Around Avalanche Mountain
Sunday, April 11th, 2004On Sunday April 11, Scott, Taz (the dog) and I did a fantastic crust ski from Glen Alps trailhead. We skied around Avalanche Mountain, going up and over three passes along the way: Ship Pass, Indian Creek Pass, and Powerline Pass. I forgot the camera, so we don’t have any photos of the spectacular scenery. All we have is a map of our route. Sorry!
Ski Train To Grandview
Tuesday, March 9th, 2004At 6 am on Saturday morning, Linda and I, and 700 other skiers, boarded the Alaska Railroad for the annual Ski Train. The train ride was a three hour trip to a place called Grandview. Grandview isn’t town – there is nothing there. It is just a remote spot in the middle of the Alaskan mountains that happens to have unreal skiing. Once in Grandview, everyone gets off the train, and skis all day.

Monday, August 4th, 2003Rim To Rim Run Across The Grand Canyon
Friday, October 5th, 2001came back from a trip to the Grand Canyon with an idea for an epic run: run the Grand Canyon from rim to rim. Immediately, we were all intrigued. Sounded like an adventure right up our alley.
The Bike Ride Of Death
Saturday, July 14th, 2001After months of big talk, Eric, Scott, Erik, and I tackle the Bike Ride Of Death (BROD) on July 14, 2001. It was 120 miles and something like 13,000 feet of vertical. I didn’t do a write-up of this epic, because Eric Maas did one. But now I can’t find his to link to it. I’ll see if I can track it down.
In the meantime, I made mention of it on XCSkiRacer.com – scroll down to July 14.
